The Future, What Is It?

The Future, What Is It?

By Loise Munjiru

The future to me is another name for hope. It is a mystery that we all want to solve. You feel optimistic because you know that something different may happen. Yes, may, but because there’s that chance you’ll fight to live. Who knows what tomorrow holds. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll have the courage that you’d lost yesterday.

That is why the future is said to be uncertain. You might have everything and nothing today but tomorrow may just answer the questions you’ve had all your life. ‘Today is the oldest you are,’ so you have a chance to make yourself worthy.

The future is an empty space that you get to fill with your imagination. So build mansions even in your mind because you never know it may just happen. Dream big and then work smart to achieve those goals. Learn from your past and move forward knowing that you are better now, because you were willing to listen.

This is not the time to doubt and overthink what will be. No, it is the time to work on yourself because who knows maybe you will
be someone different. Be the best version of yourself, today, rather than worry about who you are tomorrow. It’s that mystery that you think about but you cannot solve because it’s just that unpredictable. You should just flow with it without forgetting who you are. Like every story, there is a beginning, middle and the end.

But sometimes we just want to skip to the end that we forget to live life. When you feel unsure, just read this and remember the
word BUT holds us back the word should always be AND.

Dear life,
Dear Zindagi, when destiny claims you, then what will you say of me? What will reflect on the mirror when I look
at the future? Will I see the past too? I pray I’ll see a better me.

Hey Zindagi, whatever changes, I pray that I’ll be honest and true to what I believed in. Though the sands of time
change, I’d like to choose to take a chance on you. As the tides of time catch up with you, will I be proud when I look in the mirror, as I reflect on what you’ve made me? Will I see your beauty and majesty as you slowly fade away? Well, nothing is certain but I choose to have, hope, that you’ll never get tired of teaching me new things.
