Football: Youth team coach Lim Heung Se promises to develop football in South Sudan

The South Korean born coach Mr. Lim Heung Se, who is South Sudan’s youth team head coach says he won’t leave the country if youth football is not developed to the level he wants.

Mr. Lim has been helping the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) to train teenage players in all aspects necessary to ensure the country becomes strong in the near future.

“I will do my best to develop soccer in South Sudan.” Coach Heung Se told The Insider.

With the support from the Korean government Mr. Lim has been sending underaged players to Seul for physical and mind training and also soliciting football clubs in the South Korea Leagues to take them for trials.

“My vision is to send a youth soccer team to play different children’s soccer teams around the world after 10 years.” Heung Se says.

He is well known across African and Asia for his wit with children’s teams especially after a successful campaign in South Africa and in his home country. He is trusted by the South Korean government, South Sudanese government and the SSFA because he always delivers quality work with youthful players and he also wins sponsorships with giants like Yumtudu.

Mr. Heung Se’s most successful products who are currently in South Korea are midfielder Pal and winger Martin. He has also sponsored national team players like Stephen Pawor who played in the South Korean second division league.

This year Mr. Heung Se will take more players to train in Seoul and these include Wol and Samuel Taban.

“I love South Sudan and I love South Sudanese soccer. My vision is to teach soccer by watching 5 years and 10 years from now, focusing on the basics of South Sudan Children’s Soccer.” The Korean added.

He says in 10 years’ time South Sudan would be the best team in the East African region.

“the Bright Stars will jump over Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda.” He said, saying “my dream is to participate in the African Nation and hope that South Sudanese soccer players will participate in the World Cup.”

“So I send two young South Sudanese soccer players to Korea every year to train soccer advanced countries. My biggest goal is to get them to move beyond Southeast Asia to European football. So far, I have sent 5 players from South Sudan to Korea to train.” Coach Heung Se told The Insider.

In september Wol and Samuel Taban will travel to Korea to start the best experience in their football career.

Martin, one of the South Sudanese young players and his two other colleagues are playing for professional soccer teams in Yangju, Korea.  “My goal is to train them more and send them to the European leagues.” He confided.

In September this year, Mr. Heung Se will send two other players, Wol and Samuel Taban, to the Korean youth team to raise and develop them into professional players.

“We are preparing everything. We could have gone earlier this year without the Coronavirus, but it’s getting late.” He said.

Also, I will make a 12-year-old national soccer team and a 15-year-old national team participate in the international soccer competition held in Korea every year to experience the world soccer competition.

“Also, if I have a chance, I will send a young soccer leader from South Sudan to South Korea to educate the coach academy and help the development of South Sudan soccer.” He told The Insider.

Striker Martin is coach Lim’s best success story as the striker has already played in several teams in South Korea and is being promoted to the First Division in the Korean League. He has won top scorer awards with his first club Kuyang FC.
