Calm in Lainya as cattle herders move towards Juba

By Emmanuel Khamis

For the last 72 hours, the general security situation all over Lainya County is normal with no insecurity incident reported.

The Mundari cattle keepers moved out from Wuji, Kupera, Kenyi and Mukaya Payams towards Lainya Payam some proceeded on their way to Juba en route to Terekeka.

Some cattle Camps are still in the East of Lainya Payam particularly Lokurubang and Logwili Bomas. The County Security Committee is closely monitoring their movements and conduct and ensure that they leave without further delay to their areas of origin.

With the criminal conduct of these cattle keepers that led to the killing, displacement and looting of innocent and vulnerable people in Lainya County, all previous goodwill consents given by previous administrations in Lainya County that allowed some of these cattle keepers to graze in Lainya County is hereby nullified.

The continuous roaming of all armed cattle keepers outside their areas of origin after the order of the President and the continuous crimes they committed against different Host communities constitute a clear violation of the President order and the order of the Governor respectively and any action to undermine the Constitutional authority of the President and the Governor or any institution established by law constitute a National Security threat that must not be condoned at any cost.

It is high time that we coordinate efforts as different levels of Government in South Sudan and the security organs to strictly enforce the order of the President to stamp out all cattle-related insecurity and other insecurities. I strongly believe that together we will implement the order of the President as the highest authority in the Country and to do that, we need to also watch out for elements within our ranks and files who are always driven by conflicts of interest at the expense of our poor people.

It should be noted with concern that allowing criminals to breed freely, is the same as allowing a big tree to grow in the middle of your compound without pruning its branches and eventually when the tree branches from big and heavy wind strike strong and the tree branches break, it will not fall outside but within the same compound and its consequences will not spare anyone.

Therefore, let us stand together, support our President, the Governor, our security institutions, and all levels of public offices mandated to protect the lives and properties of our people.

Let us not waste time but generate constructive ideas that secure our future as people and as a Country so that as we wait for the second coming of Jesus, our actions and conduct should lead either of us to Heaven or Hell. It will not be good if one loses the opportunity to either reach Heaven or Hell.

Commissioner Lainya County.
