The truth is, life will amaze you in the most stunning ways, and it will also break your heart in equal measures. Life will gift you the kinds of lessons that grow you and build you and help you to bloom into the person you have always hoped to be, but it will also carry within it the kinds of losses that stay with you, that change you and mould you in uncomfortable ways. Life will demand for you to do the work, for you to understand yourself, for you to heal even when it hurts. For you to be brave, for you to fight for yourself.

At the end of the day, bravery is not a battlefield. It is not fast cars or stunted risk. Bravery is the quietest thing you will ever know. Bravery is getting up in the morning when your bones are heavy and your heart does not want the light to crack within it. Bravery is leaning into what aches. It is looking in the face, giving it a name and confronting it for what it is. Bravery is being gentle with yourself, especially when it is not convenient or easy, especially when you are not a shining example of the person you strive to be. Bravery is forgiving yourself. It is the work you do within your soul that is dirty and difficult.

Most of all, bravery is the way you stretch towards the light. It is the way you bloom in the direction of goodness, even when you may not know what you are reaching for. Bravery is allowing yourself to be believe that you are growing, even when you do not recognize the path. Bravery is knowing that there is more for you, that you will have the ability to save yourself like you have always before, that you will survive.

Let yourself feel every thought . Even if the way you are feeling right now may not feel right or rational. Trust the process of feeling and healing. The way you feel is an emotional state or reaction to a situation or experience and everyone experiences a situation differently. Therefore the way you feel about something might completely be different to how somebody else does.

This is a reminder for anybody who needs to see it right now. One day it will not hurt anymore. I promise. But today it does. So cry, cry until you cannot anymore. Cry until you feel better. They may not be worth your tears but you are. Your feelings are worth validating and your hurt is worth recognizing. Be there for yourself and let yourself feel, because letting yourself feel is how you heal.

Do not strive for perfection; instead strive for experience, for learning new things and stepping outside of your comfort zone. Each wrong turn has brought you closer to where you are now. Every mistake has given you the knowdge you have now. Challenge yourself, just give life, a go, leave the unrealistic idea of perfection behind and accept that some chapters in your life are there to get you to the next one. The next chapter is worth making a few mistakes for the next chapter will take closer to where you need to be.

Learn how to let go of everyone’s opinions of your life. Learn to start to see from a place that lives deep within you, that there is no universally correct to live a life that is solely your own. Every human being has different goals, has different concepts of what happiness looks like, and has a different concept of what it truly means to be alive. Learn to make your time here something you are proud of.

It is okay if you are slowly becoming the person you want to be. Real growth takes time. The things that work and the things that stay are often the things we put together gradually, with heart and soul and effort. What arrives too fast often leaves that quickly, often. What arrives slowly is often what we savor most, because it is what we placed all of our love into, it is what we made peace in our lives to hold. Please do not think you are falling behind just because your growth is not happening as fast as you thought it might. Seasons do not turn overnight, but always arrive just in time.
